Tom Jones and Lulu

You know how sometimes a song leaps into your head and you just can’t dislodge it? Well while my friends at Kiss Me Deadly, What Katie Did, Ayten Gasson and Playful Promises strut their gorgeous stuff at Love Bomb, I have had the Tom Jones version buzzing around in my head since I heard about it at the weekend. Ok it’s Sex Bomb not Love Bomb but that’s just my mind playing Valentine’s Day word association tricks.

So that got me thinking... what pair would I have flung onto the stage back in the day? I think something that would stand out from the pile of skimpy thongs... So I picked these.

I might have had to attach a return label though. It would be a shame to lose them.

New Arrival! Retro style swimwear at Joanna's Wardrobe

Last September I had a fantastic day with Nicole from the Hourglass and the beautiful Catt Heels, photographing a whole range of lingerie and swimwear for this season, well after months of waiting for actual stock to arrive, the first boxes of swimwear were delivered last week from leading British swimwear designer Seaspray. All the styles we have chosen have a great retro look and feel and come in fabulous Polka Dots print and gorgeous summery “Fiji” mix palette print. Just looking at them makes you wish you had a pool to dip into or a sea to swim in, so we hope you like them as much as we do and if you’re planning your summer holidays now, why not pick up your swimwear too!

Joanna's Wardrobe now offers live help online...

Well we’re all busy here working on the first Newsletter of 2012 and making all the changes that need to happen on the site before we send it out, but there’s one thing you may already have noticed which is our Live Help facility which we hope will make Joanna’s Wardrobe even more like an online boutique.

As any of you who have contacted us by email or through the site in the past will probably have noticed, we’re about all through the UK day and often into the evening helping our customers with queries and giving advice – well now when there’s someone available the Live Chat button will light up and you can talk to us online. There’s also the helpline number for UK use which is 0844 335 1006.

Like a real high street boutique there will be times when we’re busy helping another customer on the phone, or doing something ‘out the back’ when we won’t be available, but we hope we’re around enough to support any needs you have. As now if the Live Chat button isn’t lit up you can contact us using the contact form or email.

Lingerie "Meal Deal" Offer! Get 20% Off at Joanna's Wardrobe

During their annual Joanna’s Wardrobe festive celebrations the technical team at Joanna’s Wardrobe came up with a marvellous idea in the form of a “Meal Deal” where you get a fantastic 20% off your order as long as you include at least one bra, one pair of knickers, a suspender belt or girdle and a pair of stockings. They then spent the rest of the afternoon giggling and fiddling with the website.

Sort of gives away where they ate, and it wasn’t haute cuisine. I’m guessing they spent all their dinner money in the pub.

Well I was going to start my sale on Boxing Day but – well it’s complicated but basically I made some changes on the Joanna’s Wardrobe website at the same time as my technical people were sorting out the sale program and it all got out of sync and confusing so I’ve had to start the sale early! Don’t you think that for Christmas it’s really nice to get something special from your other half, not necessarily something you need but something you really want? Of course I see lots of beautiful lingerie running Joanna’s Wardrobe (I actually want it all) but this year I’ve definitely got my eye on the luxurious silk nightwear from Ayten Gasson. Who could resist the feel of fine silk against ones skin and the feeling of being totally adored to be given such beautiful lingerie? I’m sure I’ll find other items to put on my wish list for Christmas as there’s still plenty of time, but I’m making the most of being able to send my wish list to hubby via the members’ area of Joanna’s Wardrobe as he sometimes need a little helping hand.

Inspired by a Facebook Friend who liked this photo on my Leg Art page and wondered if I might like to use a similar image featuring herself and her husband, I’m running a competition with a prize of a £100 Joanna’s Wardrobe Gift Voucher for the best Leg Art inspired photo. Photos don’t have to be new or recent, but the competition will run until the end of September 2011 so you have plenty of time to play around with that camera. And if your creativity really gets flowing then you can enter more than one photo!

Images must be 500 px wide by 750 px tall or larger - but they must be in the same ratio, i.e. portrait style, otherwise I will have to crop them which may spoil the effect. You images should be emailed to joanna@joannaswardrobe.com by 30^th September, and if you have any questions about the competition please send them to that address too.

All photos must either be your property or be given freely with permission from the photographer. I will need the email address and/or website details for all images by professional photographers especially if they are copyrighted - I’m happy to attribute images to models and photographers and to display links to their sites if they’d like me to.

If you wish to remain anonymous that can also be arranged, but I won’t accept photos with faces obscured using Photoshop or other image manipulation software - use back views and imaginative camera angles and be careful what’s in the background!

In any case, please make sure that you get the permission of everyone in your photo because the top nine entries will be displayed on a new Ideas and Inspiration page on the Joanna’s Wardrobe website which will be linked to on associated Blogs, Flickr, Twitter and Facebook in October 2011 and runner-up images may be used in those media as well.

And best of all the winner will receive a £100 Joanna’s Wardrobe Gift Voucher - just in time for Christmas!

Last Sunday I spent a fabulous day with Nicole from the Hourglass and the gorgeous Catt Heels shooting some of next season’s lingerie collections and fabulous swimwear. We also took the opportunity to re-shoot some of our very popular current lines. In record time Nicole has already sent me fabulous images of the red and black Secret bodyshaper by Stockings & Romance worn with Playful Promises black Jasmine knickers and What Katie Did black retro seamed stockings. These fabulous Secret bodyshapers are particular popular with men buying for their ladies as not only do they look sexily stunning but are sized from extra small to X3 and not bra sized so make it a lot easier for them not to get it wrong.

Royal Ascot

We were lucky enough to be in the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot on Wednesday, so we avoided the rain and the improper behaviour of Ladies Day. Despite having no idea about racing I managed to win quite a few times, mostly on the advice of a lovely, funny man called John Francome who seemed to know a bit about it. But the main thing I learned was to let my husband put the bets on and then me collect the winnings. So lots of money flowed from his wallet into my purse – how good is that! I was definitely up on the day. I also met some really interesting and fun people, especially a new friend Jayne who as well as being great fun gave me some really good advice about online retailing. And I won a bottle of pink Moet too, so quite a good day!

The dress code in the Royal Enclosure is very strict and we were invited by business associates of my husband so my outfit was suitably smart, Karen Millen coming up trumps as usual with a summery floral dress and matching stilettos, and a lucky sage hat and handbag combo find at a local boutique setting it off. Joanna’s Wardrobe supplied the lingerie and nylons as usual, and I was particularly pleased with the Ivory Roll-on Girdle from Kiss Me Deadly – it’s definitely one of my favourites at the moment. I’m not sure if it’s good etiquette to tell you any more than that given that it was in the presence of Her Majesty.

Roll-on Girdles by Kiss Me Deadly

It’s always a bit strange how light can play tricks with your eyes, well after having my Hourglass photo shoot I realised that I’ve put the colour for the Kiss Me Deadly roll-on girdle on the site as turquoise, but it’s definitely blue! Although the bra I matched it with was one of Kiss Me Deadly’s past collection bras, I could have so easily matched it with many other styles. After wearing it myself I would definitely recommend it as the comfort and fit was absolutely fabulous - with a great choice of colours I might just have to treat myself to one or two of these to add to my personal (ever expanding) collection of suspenders and girdles. These girdles are available in Black, Blue, Pink, Red and the a stunning new ivory!
